Ragdoll Cats is a large American cat breed that was originated from a Persian cat named Josephine back in the 1960's. They resemble a Siamese breed in terms of their markings but have a longer and thicker fur with silky rabbit-like coat. Ragdoll Cats are well known for their gentle temperament and affectionate nature. They fit in perfectly with your children and other pets because they're not aggressive and usually are very careful with their teeth and claw during play. Many of Ragdoll Cats and Kittens exhibit a dog-like behavior and sometimes called "puppy-dogs". For instance, they tend to follow their owners from room to room or greet them at the door upon returning home, isn't that sweet. ^_^
Usually, it will take 2 years for a Ragdoll Cat to fully grown. An adult Ragdoll males can weight from 10-20 pounds while females ranging between 8-15 pounds. They are considered as one of the largest breed of domestic cat in the world.
Ragdoll Cats and Kittens come in 6 delicious flavors(lol), actually it's 6 different colors which are seal, lilac, chocolate, flame, blue and cream. There are 3 patterns marking that differentiate each Ragdoll Cats:
1. Pointed - the face, tail and paws are marked with a specific color.
2. Mitted - similar to pointed but with white chin, paws and tummy.
3. Bicolor - white legs and tummy with an inverted 'V" on the face.
Ragdoll Cats are considered as one of the special breed cat because of their unique features and behavior. So if you are thinking of adopting or buying this type of cat, you should expect to spend a fair amount of money on it. Ragdoll Kittens might cost between $300 to $600 while adult Ragdoll Cats can cost up to $1000 or more for special lineage.
